She re-ignited the national debate over the right-to-die movement to a level not seen since Dr. Jack Kevorkian claimed to have assisted in the deaths of more than 130 terminally ill people in the 1990s.

Now, a new HealthDay/Harris Poll, to be released tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 5 at 9 a.m., finds that already-strong public support among Americans for right-to-die legislation has grown even stronger.

An overwhelming 74 percent of adults now believe that terminally ill patients who are in great pain should have the right to end their lives, the poll found. Only 14 percent were opposed.

Broad majorities also favor physician-assisted suicide and physician-administered euthanasia.

This is a story readers will find timely, insightful and thought-provoking.
