HealthDay's Dr. Cindy Haines Selected for Fulbright Specialist Roster

NORWALK, Conn., September 12, 2013 -- Dr. Cynthia Haines, Chief Medical Officer for HealthDay, a leading producer and syndicator of evidence-based health news, has been selected for the Fulbright Specialist Roster.

HealthDay CEO Dan McKillen said, "We are very proud of Cindy's accomplishment. HealthDay is very fortunate to have a Chief Medical Officer recognized by such a prestigious organization."

The Fulbright Specialist Program, administered by the Council for International Exchange of Scholars, awards short-term Fulbright grants to qualified and approved U.S. faculty and professionals for two to six weeks at host institutions in more than 140 countries. The shorter grant lengths allow grantees listed in the Fulbright Specialist Roster the opportunity to undertake various types of activities including curriculum, faculty development, institutional planning, and related subjects.

Dr. Haines is a board-certified family physician and medical communicator, with expertise in health strategy and individual/community/societal engagement for health, health care, and health care cost optimization. "My hope is to give and receive knowledge on what is working in health and health care, and be a vehicle for international connectivity of useful, accessible health and health care strategy at the clinical and, perhaps more universally impactful, the lifestyle level," said Haines.

The primary goals of the Fulbright Specialist Program are to increase the number of exemplary U.S. scholars in Fulbright academic exchanges; to encourage new activities that expand the scope of traditional Fulbright teaching and research and to enhance relationships between U.S. and international academic institutions.

The Fulbright Specialist Roster is a list of all approved candidates who are eligible to be matched with incoming project requests from overseas academic institutions for Fulbright Specialists.
