(HealthDayNews) -- You're nearly nine months pregnant and your delivery date is just days away. Use this time to make some final preparations for labor.
Harvard Medical School advises you:
- Get plenty of rest. If you have trouble sleeping, take a hot bath to soothe aching muscles or ask your partner for a deep muscles massage of your shoulders, lower back, and feet.
- Avoid lying on your back, since your enlarged uterus could compress large blood vessels and you may feel short of breath.
- Load up on carbohydrates. Your labor may be long, and a high carbohydrate diet eaten for one to two weeks before your due date will increase your muscle glycogen reserve. Extra glycogen fuels your energy levels.
