Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Changing Name to Blood Cancer United

THURSDAY, July 31, 2025 (HealthDay News) -- In an effort to broaden the reach of the organization, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) has announced they are changing their name to Blood Cancer United.For over 75 years, the LLS has supported the entire blood cancer community, including those with cancers beyond leukemia and lymphoma. With over 100 types of blood cancers, the LLS determined it was time to evolve its identity to better reflect its inclusive mission."The word 'united' is transformational and inviting," E. Anders Kolb, M.D., president and CEO of the LLS, said in a statement. "I believe in the power of bringing together patients, families, scientists, volunteers, donors, business leaders, and health systems under a shared purpose. Blood Cancer United reflects who we are today and who we aspire to be -- a unifying force advancing progress for every person impacted by blood cancer."While the LLS is changing its name, its mission remains the same. The organization will continue to support patients by funding research, advancing treatments, providing free support, and advocating for better health care access. With more people being reached, the LLS can get closer to its 2040 bold goal: "We will enable patients with blood cancer to gain more than one million years of life."The LLS will unveil its new name on Aug. 28, 2025, ahead of Blood Cancer Awareness Month.
