Dr. Sandy Sufian, historian of medicine and disability at University of Illinois Chicago
Dr. Sandy Sufian holds joint appointments in the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) Department of Medical Education in the College of Medicine (Health Humanities) and the Department of Disability and Human Development in the College of Applied Health Sciences. Her research interests include the intersection of chronic illness and sexual and reproductive health issues, the history of kinship, and the modern history of disability and medicine. Dr. Sufian co-founded the Cystic Fibrosis Reproductive and Sexual Health Collaborative (cfreshc.org) and has received numerous grants from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
