Julie Mitchell, MD, MS, Regional Vice President & Senior Clinical Officer, Elevance Health

Dr. Julie Mitchell serves as Regional Vice President and Senior Clinical Officer for Commercial Health Benefits at Elevance Health, where she leads regional clinical strategy across multiple affiliated health plans. She partners with commercial, clinical, network, and digital leaders to advance whole-health solutions that improve health outcomes, enhance the care experience, and help address the cost of care. Her work focuses on strengthening provider partnerships, advancing value-based care, improving care coordination, and driving clinical innovation for members and employers. Dr. Mitchell brings more than 25 years of experience in primary care, population health, and healthcare leadership. Before joining Elevance Health in 2018, she served as Chief Population Health Management Officer for the Medical College Physicians practice plan and previously led primary care as Section Chief at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She continues to practice primary care in a teaching clinic. A board-certified internist and Fellow of the American College of Physicians, Dr. Mitchell earned both her bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering and her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She completed her internal medicine residency and served as Chief Resident at the University of Pittsburgh before returning to the University of Wisconsin–Madison to complete a fellowship in Women's Health and earn a Master of Science in Population Health.
