Natalie Krebs, Iowa Public Radio

Natalie Krebs is a health reporter with expertise in telling stories about health, Medicaid and maternal health. She has written extensively on abortion access and women’s health care in Iowa, the opioid epidemic, state health agencies, rural health care access and medical care for older adults. Natalie holds a master’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon. As a 2021 fellow with the USC Annenberg Center for Health Journalism, she produced an in-depth three-part series examining COVID-19’s impact on Iowa’s meatpacking industry and its workers. Her work regularly appears through Side Effects Public Media and has been featured on programs including Morning Edition, All Things Considered, Here & Now and Native News. An award-winning reporter, Natalie received the Public Media Journalists Association’s Best Health/Medical Reporting award in 2024 for “Fixing Understaffed Nursing Homes” and has attended the annual conference of the Association of Health Care Journalists. Outside of reporting, her favorite Iowa destination is the Yellow River State Forest.
